Government Regulations |
Regulatory AgenciesThe Federal Communications Commission (FCC) sets exposure standards for wireless devices based only on thermal impacts. The last update of exposure standards was 1996. The FCC website contains statements such as "wireless devices only emit RF energy when you are using them," which is blatantly false.
For the moment, EPA has some basic information about wireless radiation and its impact on human health, hidden away in the "RadTown" section of its website where no one will see it.
The Food and Drug Administration works with FCC to regulate wireless medical devices. FDA can take action if wireless phones emit levels of RF determined to be dangerous, but has not taken any action to date, despite mounting evidence of potential harm.

Federal LegislationThere are currently several bills in Congress aimed at speeding up the deployment of 5G transmitters. Please join the LISTSERV to stay up to date on developments.
The STREAMLINE ACT introduced in June, 2018 is just one example. The Telecommunications Act of 1996 governs federal, state and local government oversight of siting of "personal wireless service" facilities. This includes pre-emption of the right of any local municipality to reject an application for a cell tower based on "environmental" concerns, which has been interpreted by the courts to mean "health concerns."
The Environmental Health Trust has put together a list of pending Federal legislation that would facilitate the build-out of 5G infrastructure by removing local control over antenna placement.
EHT also has an amazing list of the health and safety warnings that come with various devices. Check it out and see the warnings for your device! |
AdvocacyWireless companies are seeking state legislation to pre-empt the ability of local municipalities to interfere with, or object to, the placement of 5G "small cell" antennas in neighborhoods, towns and cities across America. So far, thirteen states have passed such legislation. California and New York have rejected it - for now - but the telecoms will be back.
